Board game nights
Ticket to Ride (French edition) – Days of Wonder
The classic game of linking cities by rail, for 2 to 5 players. The rules take minutes to explain, then everyone gets hooked right up to the last route.
A beautiful tile game where you decorate a palace wall. Games are short and look calm, but they're more tactical than you'd think, perfect after dinner with friends or family.
The picture version of the famous team game: one clue has to get your teammates to guess several cards. Expect plenty of laughs when the connection is a bit of a stretch.
Dixit (bilingual French/English edition) – Asmodee
Dreamlike illustrated cards, and it's up to you to find a clue that's neither too obvious nor too vague. An imagination game that works just as well with teens as with grandparents.
Build your stable of unicorns… and sabotage everyone else's. A colourful, slightly mean card game for 2 to 8 players, made for friends who love a good backstab.
A box set to get started with D&D: rulebook, adventure, Dungeon Master's screen, map and dice. Note that this edition is in English, great if your group is comfortable with it.
Mammifères du Québec et de l’est du Canada, by Prescott and Richard (French field guide)
A French-language field guide to identifying the mammals of Quebec and Eastern Canada. Perfect to keep at the cabin to find out who wandered past the porch.
